The Role

The Associate Director will lead the client relationship for Dell in Germany and, as part of the CSB Leadership team, be a driving force for best-in-class planning and implementation across all EMEA markets.

The role requires working with the MediaCom team made up of a range of key disciplines that help us deliver a top-class service to Dell: Account Management, Strategic Comms Planning, Business Science, Consumer Insight, MediaCom Beyond Advertising (content), Search, Digital, and Social media.

This role will include leading MediaCom’s output for Dell CSB in the following areas:

- Communications planning for the Consumer, Gaming and Small Business aspects of Dell’s CSB business in Germany

- Planning and executing Brand and Response campaigns; so that we achieve the two objectives of Creating Demand and Converting Demand

Superior Client Account Management

  • Ability to engage senior-level marketing clients at the local, and regional level
  • Build and maintain excellent client relationships through best-in-class client servicing.
  • Actively participate in the development of client contact strategies and pro-actively seek opportunities to problem solve and advise internal teams and markets.
  • Act as focal point for our global and regional teams. Driving excellence and quality in account management and delivery.
  • Assist the BD with client and partner agency resolution issues.
  • Assist the BD in reporting and adherence to client servicing action plans.
  • Anticipation of clients’ needs and setting up internal process to meet them.
  • Recognise the best work from across the industry and category and be confident in sharing and applying relevant insights.

Market support, practice development and implementation

  • Identify and set relevant process and KPIs in conjunction with key clients and then apply to the teams working at MediaCom – both locally and centrally - supporting them in delivery and monitoring progress.
  • To inspire and advance each market’s understanding and activation across all platforms working with local agency teams and local client teams where necessary.
  • Embrace and advocate the use of Mediacom’s System Planning approach, ensuring this becomes the focal point of our way of working.
  • Focus on delivering against global commitments, encompassing people, resources, quality of services, deliverables, and remuneration
  • Support local market delivery by creating consistent approaches to account needs including QBRs, summits, PCAs, media landscape and competitive reports
  • Share best practice across markets where appropriate and create consistencies in output

People Management

  • Management and development of team market coordination team
  • Regularly report back to full team on insights from markets
  • Oversee the usage of media reporting tools, reporting back to global clients and client leads to call our market challenges and compliance issues
  • Maintain high level of motivation amongst team members and implement initiatives to ensure team retention.
  • Anticipate team workload, propose team structure / staff requirements, effectively manage team resource gaps, e.g. leave cover.
  • Hire new team members as required, assign team responsibilities
  • Marshal team resources in order to fit client requirements and working with staffing/revenue ratios
  • Develop strong relationships with internal teams – including BD, Strategy leads and digital and supporting services (commercial, legal, etc)
  • Implement initiatives to ensure team retention.
  • Effectively manage upwards to the BD and EMEA Account Directors

Specific areas of focus include:

Overall client satisfaction

Maintain and improve campaign performance through relationship building within internal MediaCom teams

Working with the Business Director to deliver the developed strategy, ensure timely communication and management of client expectations

Working closely with specialist central teams as well as local markets to safeguard timely delivery of services.

Develop central strategy

Usually working with a CSB EMEA leadership team, develop clear and well supported central strategy or framework for the communication planning that will be help generate effective and innovative media plans.

Brief and inspire local markets

Provide local markets with clear and relevant direction and ensure successful implementation of the strategic approach through the selected channels.

Communicate and support Global initiatives from the US Mediacom team.

Provide accurate and timely information flow from local to global in accordance with the agreed scope of work.

Look for ways to harmonize or automate standard reports using MediaCom’s reporting tools

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Strong team player and team leader
  • Excellent Project Management skills
  • Good analytical thinker, with strategic skills
  • In-depth understanding of media to defend recommendations and advise clients on their optimum approach.
  • Good Attention to Detail
  • Can do Attitude and takes ownership of responsibilities
  • Ability to present to senior clients

Desirable

  • Experience of performance-led advertising not essential, but helpful
  • Good knowledge of digital media

The Process

Expected 2-3 step process in order to get the opportunity to meet the team.

There will be at least 2 interviews:

  • Business Director
  • EMEA Account Director
