MediaCom’s 12 days of giving

This year I decided to encourage my colleagues at MediaCom Edinburgh to give as well as receive this festive season by setting up a MediaCom 12 day ‘reverse advent calendar’. If you haven’t come across the concept before the idea is simple; instead of opening the door and helping yourself to a chocolate every day, you do the giving. Putting aside one item each day to donate to a local foodbank run by the Trussell Trust.

The Trussell Trust has always been a charity very close to my heart. For several years now, I have volunteered for them, helping to sort through the supplies received through the donation scheme they run with Tesco. It’s hard work but great fun and, and at this time of year – when more often than not you can find me out celebrating with friends – it feels good to be able to give something back.

Sadly, the charity is only getting busier, but the donations received in December help them for months to come. In 2017/18, the Foodbank network in the UK provided over 1.3 emergency food supplies to people in crisis. But demand is growing year on year, and the help they provide is becoming increasingly vital.

I would therefore like to say a huge thank you to all my colleagues for supporting the initiative and donating so much food. Thanks also to the many media owners who donated gifts for the raffle at our Christmas party that helped us raise over £300 for the charity.
