With US polling day on the horizon and the first not so presidential debate already behind us, this week we are looking at brands using their influence to get the US voting.

Joining forces from across various sectors, brands are hoping to encourage eligible voters to make their voices heard in the upcoming US elections.

TikTok’s guide to US Elections

TikTok is launching a guide to provide users with information ahead of the presidential election in November. The guide will give access to information about federal, state and local candidates, as well as details about how and where to vote. It will also include educational videos about media literacy and the elections process. Another important thing to mention here is that the guide in the TikTok app has no bearing on future TikTok experiences, such as recommendations or ads.

Insta Queen

Kylie Jenner demonstrated the power and influence being the world’s youngest self-made billionaire has. Earlier this week, she used her Instagram to encourage her American followers to vote and it resulted in a 1500% spike in voting registrations on the vote.org website. The 23-year-old uploaded a picture of herself in a bikini with the caption: But are you registered to vote? Click the link in my bio…Let’s make a plan to vote together”. People may have a lot to say about Kylie, but you can’t argue that her social media influence is making a difference and driving people to take action.

Vote the A**holes out!

Patagonia has sewn a new tag into their Regenerative Organic Stand-Up Shorts which reads ‘Vote the a**holes out’. The tags are intended to stand up to client change deniers, and it is not the first time Patagonia has been boldly political, having closed its offices on election day in the US in 2016 and 2018, as well as donating their $10 million savings from Trump’s 2017 corporation tax cut to help combat climate change.
