With the start of the new year, most people resolve to be more fit, eat healthier and look after their mental health and wellbeing more. Sure, we’re likely to fall short but let’s not lose our hope yet!
This week, we’re looking at the wellness landscape which has soared in popularity due to the pandemic as people are looking for different mindfulness trends.
How to Astral Project
During the pandemic, the practice of ‘astral projection’ – also known as out-of-body experience – has grown in popularity, as people are open to new kinds of escapism. It didn’t take long to see the hashtag #astralprojection clocking up over 135 million views on TikTok with videos, for instance offering help on how to visit someone in their dreams. Capitalising on the interest, private coaches are charging up to £1,000 for online lessons in the practice. As the pandemic and lockdowns continue, more niche stress relievers play an important part in people’s everyday lives. The internet is a weird and wonderful place.

Strike the balance with Ceder’s
Those amongst us who love a G+T will also know of the less than fresh feeling that often comes the morning after. Not exactly the epitome of wellness, is it? Now, non-alcoholic spirit brand, Ceder’s, has made a plan to show off their drinks wellness benefits by organising an online retreat that will feature an inspirational talk with Fearne Cotton. The 0% gin alternative has launched this event for those who are looking to re-set, re-start and re-invigorate after a tiresome 2020.

Owning January
In an effort to ‘own’ January, Hearst’s Men’s Health and Women’s Health will be hosting a series of virtual events on weekends throughout the month. These will include a cook along with chef Tom Kerridge every Saturday evening, workouts and talks with Davina McCall, Jillian Michaels and Spencer Matthews. As we are all stuck at home once more, and perhaps looking to turn to wellness after the indulgence of the festive season, these virtual events are coming at just the right time. Hearst is planning to schedule further virtual events throughout the year and feel that virtual is not going anywhere.
