MediaCom celebrates World Cancer Day

World Cancer Day

Friday 4th February marked World Cancer Day, an initiative led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). A day that unites people and communities across the world to raise awareness, take action and fight against the global cancer epidemic. This year marks 120 years of life saving research and 20 years of Cancer Research UK.

MediaCom’s Charity Committee worked hard to honour the importance of World Cancer Day and the accomplishments made so far. We celebrated our long-standing relationship with Cancer Research UK with various activities including holding a CRUK 20th birthday party and getting our brilliant leadership team involved in the “Drench the Director” challenge to raise money for this lifechanging work.

In partnership with CRUK, we also provided an opportunity for MediaCommers to attend an online educational talk exploring the importance of early detection of cancer, providing an insight into what CRUK do behind the scenes. There is a need to encourage more people to get their cervical screenings and CRUK’s work helps raise awareness of the importance of early detection. Over the last 40 years CRUK’s work has helped double breast cancer survival- an accomplishment well worth celebrating!

Events like these are so important when it comes to highlighting awareness of the work that CRUK and many other organisations do and now is a dedicated time to reflect on the accomplishments they have made along the way in the fight against cancer.
