MediaCom’s Chairwoman and our Chief Transformation Officer have again been recognised on the prestigious list.
MediaCom are delighted that Karen Blackett OBE, our Chairwoman and WPP Country Manager, and Sue Unerman, Chief Transformation Officer at MediaCom UK have been included yet again on the HEROes Women Role Model lists. This is the third year in a row that both women have been included. There are three HERoes Women Role Model lists which celebrate 100 female executives, 50 women future leaders and 40 advocate executives, all of whom are achieving incredible things in the business community for gender diversity.
Karen Blackett works tirelessly in encouraging diversity in the workplace. In 2012, she launched MediaCom’s Apprenticeship Scheme for 18-24 year olds, the first of its kind in the industry. Karen championed a Women Returners programme with Successful Mums, launched Project Blend and developed Inclusion@MediaCom. Karen mentors both within MediaCom and externally and participates in reverse mentoring schemes. She is a member of Women in Advertising and Communications London (WACL), a Business Ambassador for the Department of International Trade, the Prime Minister’s Race at Work Champion and was named one of the most influential women in Britain by Vogue 25.
Sue Unerman has continued to organise and run her successful Glass Wall Network events. Inspired by her 2016 book that she and Kathryn Jacob OBE wrote – ‘The Glass Wall, success strategies for women at work and businesses that mean business’ – the events ask the questions that need discussing, including how to Build Your Own Personal Brand and Where Are All the Men? In addition, Sue is a strong presence during the agency’s International Women’s Day celebrations and, as part of her work as Chief Transformation Officer, Sue continues to challenge the industry to grow and change, never resting at where we’ve got to.
Congratulations to Karen and Sue. You can read the full list here.
