Beth Robertson joined our MediaCom team in Edinburgh on Mon 25th July 2016 as a Trainee in our AV team. Since then she’s become an integral part of the MediaCom family. Her extremely expressive/ yellow communication style (we have a colour coded communication system here at MediaCom) has had everyone hypnotised from Day 1. In Beth’s own words, “I’m so yellow, make sure you don’t look directly at me – I’m like the sun!”
A few months ago however, an email went around the office to let us know that Beth would sadly be leaving MediaCom at the end of July. Without giving away too many of her personal details, I’ll say that she’s following her heart to the beautiful country of New Zealand next month. Therefore, when my turn came round for the latest newsletter article, I thought I would do my exit interview with her, so here it is. Take it away Beth….

What would you say your biggest highlights have been whilst working at MediaCom?
What about your most memorable moment?
I think everyone who was there will agree that it would have to be the MediaCom away day – lest we forget 15th – 16th September 2016. I had only been at MediaCom around 6 weeks at this point so was quite an ‘in at the deep end’ experience seeing as I was only confident with around 40% of my colleagues names at this point. The day itself was a lot of fun. Was great to see so early on at my time at MediaCom the magnitude of the company I was now part of. However, as all my fellow Edinburgh MediaCom’ers will the remember, THE WAY BACK is something I think I am still getting over and moulded me into the person I am today.
What will you miss most about MediaCom?
Is there a specific person you will miss most?
Has to be my fellow AV Planner / Buyer Paige!! She has been there from the start (minus that one week I started before her when she thought I’d learnt everything already and she was miles behind!). Since then we have learnt to communicate on an eye contact basis alone, have found the funny side to pretty much everything, worked and lived by the rule that if we both think something is right – its right, and can be the complete opposites whilst coinciding with being the exact same person!
If there was a new person starting at MediaCom what would your one piece of advice to them be?
MediaCom rucksacks are kept in the cupboard, second floor, west wing – yours to keep (I hope?) J Also everyone is lovely!
And finally, any advice for the rest of us who are staying put here at MediaCom Edinburgh?
As a 23 year old who has been in the media game for 2 years my advice would be to be open to advice! And to take on all opportunities that come your way that you think could be a real positive. Not saying that means everyone moves to Auckland – but you get the gist!
