Hello. We are MediaCom.
We believe in People First, Better Results.
MediaCom unleashes brands’ growth by helping them See the Bigger Picture. This means that we apply our unique ‘Systems Thinking’ philosophy and technology to all marketing levers: media, message and data. As a result, we design communication strategies that deliver short term results and help brands build for the future.
As part of WPP, the world's largest marketing communications services group, and GroupM, WPP’s consolidated media investment management arm, we have access to the richest data, most robust benchmarks and most advanced capabilities in the market. This helps us provide comprehensive solutions to all marketing challenges.
Our success is underpinned by our long-standing ‘People First, Better Results’ belief. We know that by investing in our people’s whole-person wellbeing, careers and capabilities, we will help grow our clients’ businesses.
In 2020 this approach led MediaCom to be crowned Global Media Network of the Year by Eurobest and Festival of Media Global, in addition to being the most awarded agency at the WARC Media Awards.
MediaCom is one of the world’s leading media communications specialists, with billings of US$17.6 billion (Source: COMvergence, 2020), employing 8,000 people in 125 offices across 100 countries. As a dashboard engineer in MediaCom Systems Technology, you will be building reporting dashboards in Tableau and Google Data Studio to support our planning teams in building effective marketing campaigns.
Our dashboard engineers are responsible for designing, building and maintaining a wide variety of reports, from daily campaign tracking, to one-off custom builds for our clients. Dashboard engineers lead on data visualisation best practices and help to select and present appropriate metrics to ensure that MediaCom’s marketing campaigns are effective.
You will work closely with our data engineers to visualise the data sources that they supply, but the ability to automate your own data sources is also very useful. Knowledge of SQL and being comfortable working with large datasets – millions or hundreds of millions of rows - is essential.
Initially, this role will focus on maintaining and running existing reports, before expanding with experience into report design and building new interactive dashboards, particularly in Tableau.
You have an analytical mindset, a good level of mathematical and data handling ability and a passion for solving problems. Previous experience with Tableau is an advantage and Excel is definitely not your go-to tool for building reports. Experience with other dashboard platforms such as Data Studio, PowerBI or Qlik may be helpful but at Systems Technology we run a primarily Tableau environment.
- Maintaining existing Tableau dashboards and ensuring robust output
- Working with dashboard users to ensure that reports are used and to expand our range of reports
- Visualising datasets and model outputs for understanding by a non-technical audience
- Recommending best-practices for data visualisation and choices of metrics
- Designing interactive Tableau dashboards
- Working with MediaCom teams to customise report templates to individual client needs
- Progressing towards building custom dashboard solutions for MediaCom clients
- 1-2 years in a reporting or dashboard building role
- Experience with SQL
- Logical, problem solving mindset
- Google Data Studio
- Building data processing scripts in R or Python
- Experience of working with cloud databases, particularly BigQuery
- Experience working with marketing and/or web analytics data
If you feel you have the skills and experience for this exciting and challenging role, we would love to hear from you!
