International Women’s Day is a perfect opportunity to highlight some of the most influential women across Ireland’s vital technology, media and telecoms sector (TMT).
Each of these industries is increasingly interconnected. The lines between them are blurring constantly, with Tech companies moving into Media (e.g., Microsoft buying into LinkedIn), Teleco’s offering content (e.g., Eir with its Eir Sports channels), and Media companies providing telecoms services (e.g., Sky with its home phone and broadband capabilities).
In Ireland, women occupy key leadership roles in some of the country’s most successful and progressive TMT companies. Some are the primary leaders of major corporations with large employee numbers while others are the main driving force behind revenue and innovation. A number of them have a major influence on what the Irish public reads, sees or hears, while at least one has primary responsibility for protecting our personal data.
They are rarely seen faces on TV or in print but each of them, in their own way, has a major influence on the shape of the technology, media and telecoms that each of us use daily.
So here, in alphabetical order, is MediaCom Ireland’s list of the 20 most powerful women in Ireland’s multi-billion TMT sector:
