MediaCom Sport helps secure third deal for Pelé

Sports legend introduced as Global Brand Ambassador for Subway® restaurants.

MediaCom Sport’s success in representing the commercial interests of international icon, Pelé, continues with today’s announcement of a global partnership with another leading brand: Subway.

Pelé will become the latest Famous Fan for the world’s largest restaurant chain, joining a Subway team that also includes swimming superstar Michael Phelps and Olympic champion speed skater Apolo Ohno.

The partnership will be promoted both in the US and around the world via Subway’s 39,700 locations, including more than 1,000 venues in Pelé’s native Brazil.

“Fútbol is the global sport and Pelé is the pre-eminent footballer of all time,” said Tony Pace, Subway Global Chief Marketing Officer. “We are excited to have him associated with the Subway brand around the world.”

The Subway deal follows the success of previous partnerships developed by MediaCom Sport involving Volkswagen Group and Procter & Gamble.

A long-time fan of Subway, Pelé’s favourite sandwich is Tuna on Italian bread with lettuce and salt and pepper.
