Every year, we run a competition called If I
Ran the Company.
At MediaCom, our management teams know
that they are not the only ones with good ideas about how to
improve the agency. This competition provides an opportunity
for all MediaCom employees to have their voices heard.
'If I Ran the Company' is about
harnessing the power of all of our people around the world, to help
us invent our future. And it helped kick-start the global roll-out
of our Freshness programme.
We create teams within each office and
challenge them to solve a brief that we believe will benefit our
people and our clients. The teams then pitch their ideas of what
they would do if they ran the company. Each year the winning entry
- judged by our global ExCo - is put into action and becomes an
integral part of how we work.
In 2009, the brief was to stimulate
curiosity and motivate people. The winning idea, 'Inspiration
Day', came from our office in Austria. In 2010, we asked our
people to consider the following question: 'If I ran the company,
how could I help win new business?' Our office in Singapore entered
the winning idea, 'The World for you', which is will invite people
around the world to generate ideas for us in new business
situations.
This year, the competition is around
talent. Helen Brown, Chief HR & Talent Officer: "Innovating the
way we approach hiring talent is imperative if we are to attract
relevant and highly skilled people to our business. The days of
only using recruitment agencies has passed. A multi-channel
approach is imperative if we are to intercept target candidates at
the moment they want to engage with us."
