MediaCom Canada names Matt Di Paola Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer

Matt Di Paola, a communications and advertising executive with more than 15 years of agency experience, was named Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer for MediaCom Canada, a newly created position.

The announcement was made by MediaCom Canada CEO Jamie Edwards, who said
Di Paola's new role is effective immediately.

In his new role, Di Paola's responsibilities will cover a broad range of agency units and services, including strategy and digital leadership, insight & research, business science, content development and analytics. He will also be responsible for leading new product and service development initiatives and will report directly to Edwards.

"I'm very pleased to welcome an executive with Matt's experience and reputation to the MediaCom leadership team," Edwards said in making the announcement.  "He has a strong track record of creating results-focused client solutions while driving innovation and brand growth.   He also brings strong content and digital integration experience to our agency, which is exactly what many of our clients want us to provide."

Di Paola joins MediaCom from Proximity Canada where he most recently served as SVP, managing director after joining the company in 2007 and helping it grow from 40 people to a staff of more than 200.  During his career there, he worked with a stable of global blue chip clients including Gillette and HP, plus North American clients like Campbell's and M&M's and Canadian-specific clients such as CBC, Shaw, Mars, Pepsi-QTG, Frito-Lay & RBC, among others.   Earlier this year, Matt spoke about branded entertainment at both SXSW and the Banff World Media conference.

He began his career in marketing communications and public relations at Harbinger Communications, working primarily in the consumer packaged goods and financial industries with clients such as Effem Foods, Tabasco, and TD.  He has also worked in a succession of development and management roles at Devlin Applied Design, Leo Burnett and Tribal DDB Toronto. 

Currently, Matt sits on the advisory boards for both nextMEDIA and AOL Canada, as well as the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) and Google Agency Council.
