MediaCom has named Nick Cohen as
Managing Partner and UK Head of MediaCom Beyond Advertising (MBA).
He will join the team in August once he has completed the launch of
"Your Paintings‟ for the BBC.
Nick‟s brief will be to build on the
reputation of MediaCom‟s integrated content, sponsorship and
digital division as the UK‟s most successful and effective creator
of non-traditional brand messages. The team currently includes over
50 staff and provides clients such as Sky, E.ON, Volkswagen and RBS
with strategic advice and implementation in areas such as content,
seo, social, events and sponsorship.
Nick has spent the last nine years at
the BBC where he has worked as commissioner, executive producer and
editor, helping the corporation to deliver on-demand, red button,
IPTV and multiplatform projects such as Britain From Above, Stephen
Fry‟s Last Chance to See and Adam Curtis‟s It Felt Like A Kiss. He
recently won a BAFTA for his work on Wallace and Gromit‟s World of
Invention.
He has also worked as Director of
Broadband and Interactive TV Development EMEA at Turner
Broadcasting and as a journalist at ITN.
At MediaCom he will report to Karen
Blackett, Chief Executive of MediaCom UK and James Morris, Managing
Partner and Head of MediaCom Beyond Advertising EMEA.
Former Heads of MBA, Stefan Bardega
and Kirsti Wenn, will now be jointly responsible for agency digital
operations focusing on business development, quality control,
benchmarking and tool creation and development throughout the
MediaCom client portfolio. Additionally, Head of MediaCom Create,
Tom Curtis, has been promoted to the role of Creative Director for
MBA. His remit will now include creative development and innovation
across all MBA clients including those in social media,
partnerships and emerging platforms.
"In a complex world where brand
messages can appear anywhere and in any form, MediaCom UK is
committed to providing our clients with the expertise they need to
create and integrate messages beyond traditional advertising.
Nick‟s appointment demonstrates MediaCom‟s desire to push the
frontiers of communication on behalf of our clients," said Karen
Blackett.
"Nick‟s appointment is part of
MediaCom‟s continuing investment in rolling out MediaCom Beyond
Advertising across Europe with teams now in over 10 markets
including Paris, Milan, Madrid, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Warsaw.
As part of this roll out we are committed to investing in the very
best talent across the industry. The UK is a flagship office and
Nick‟s experience both at the BBC and at Turner will ensure we are
able to offer clients the expertise they need to develop and
deliver content, events and all other forms of non-traditional
advertising. I believe that the appointment of both Nick and Tom to
lead the UK team will ensure that we provide our clients with the
very best knowledge, experience and creativity in the business. "
said James Morris.
