Steven, who will be based in
MediaCom's worldwide headquarters in London, will lead a specialist
team tasked with coordinating Universal Music Group's European
planning and buying activities.
Universal Music, the world's largest music company, appointed
MediaCom in January 2010 to handle its media planning and buying
across Europe, following an extensive review. The media agency has
handled the Universal Music account in the UK for the past 20
years, and is now responsible for all European markets including
Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, the Nordic region and
Central and Eastern Europe.
Steven joins MediaCom with a wealth of experience in the
entertainment sector, having spent four years as Senior Director of
International Media at Universal Pictures International. Prior to
that, he was at United International Pictures. Of his appointment,
he said: "For anyone working in entertainment oriented
communications planning, music represents the ultimate challenge.
Working with the team at MediaCom on the Universal Music Group
business was just too good an opportunity to miss."
Steven will support Fraser Riddell, Global chief Business
Development officer, during a handover period. Fraser said: "We are
delighted to have Steve on board and are confident that he can help
us provide an outstanding level of service for the client.
Universal Music Group is the world's largest music company and one
of the world's biggest advertisers and Steve's knowledge of the
entertainment industry will ensure that we provide them with the
very best results."
Universal Music's artist roster spans every genre of music and
includes such superstars as U2, lady Gaga, Elton John, Mariah
Carey, Take That, Eminem, Rihanna and Black Eyed Peas. Its other
breakthrough artists include Justin Bieber, La Roux, Florence and
the Machine and Drake.
